About the Studio

Bellows Intent is a tabletop game studio created to serve players a little differently. Chris Matthew founded the company after managing production of dozens of games during an 11-year tenure at Panda Game Manufacturing.

We are working to create engaging games that bring something new to the medium of tabletop. You deserve the best gaming experiences that can be had around a table, and we intend for our games to raise questions about what that might mean.

Combining that questioning mentality with an obsession over quality, we feel safe in saying that each game from Bellows Intent will be one you can be proud to own and play for years to come.

Game Principles

While each of our games will differ in the questions they raise about your experience around a table, there are certain principles that we maintain. These inform theme, visual design, and product development just as much as they inform game design.

Worthy of Obsession

A compelling world, characters to identify with, strategies to explore. If a game doesn’t offer you anything to think about the day after you play it, is it worth replaying at all?

Inspired Components

Create tactile components, have players interact with them frequently through gameplay mechanisms, and a game will lean into one of tabletop’s strengths.

Positive
Progression

Whether in the building of an engine or a transformation on the board, it’s a powerful thing to have players participate in a journey with forward growth.

Thesis of Fun

While it can be difficult for humans to articulate what makes a game fun, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. Making the effort to define it creates a north star for how a game gets developed.
